Bunratty Folk Park
Singers Bunratty Castle and Folk Park: Bunratty Folk Park consists of cottages moved there from around Ireland and restored to the periods they represent. Bunratty Castle, a real Medieval castle, is one of the finest tower houses still standing in Ireland. It has changed hands many times through the centuries, usually by violent means. Bunratty was, in better days, the Manor of the great Earl of Thomond, an Elizabethan aristocrat and President of Munster.
Jeff pleading for a pardon

Our Comments: Our last evening in Ireland, we took part in the Medieval Faire at Bunratty Castle. In the great hall, we were served wassial and treated to harp and violin music and madrigal singers. During the dinner, Jeff was selected from the crowd to play the part of knight "Sir Denton" (Editors Note: Sounds kinda nice, huh? I like that!), only to be thrown in the dungeon for "trifling with the ladies." After a few blood-curdling screams from the dungeon, he was allowed to emerge (after all, he was put on the rack). Later he was pardoned, but only after leading the group in a slightly (Penny's note: VERY) out-of-tune rendition of When Irish Eyes -- though his screams were more convincing than was his song. (Editors Note: Sorry about the quality of the pics from Jeff's ordeal. As we're sure you're not surprised, it was a little dark inside the castle.)

Singin' for his supper!
